Let’s be sincere, you’ve in all probability attached with extra folks on this ship than in actual life. We break down the SSV Normandy.
The Systems Alliance Space Vehicle Normandy SR-1 was a ship in contrast to some other in Citadel area. A Systems Alliance starship, however developed in cooperation with the Turian Hierarchy, and the sponsorship of the Citadel Council, the Normandy represented the slicing fringe of expertise. Not only for humanity, however for the entire of Council area.
Designed with state-of-the-art stealth expertise, and powered by an experimental drive, the SSV Normandy was a stealth reconnaissance ship. With expertise that would render it invisible to most sensors, the Normandy was able to flying deep into hostile territory undetected.
But extra importantly, it was finally the vessel that turned the tide within the first battle towards the Reapers.
SSV Normandy SR-1 – Origins
The SSV Normandy was initially commissioned in 2183 by an Alliance officer named Elli Zander. The improvement of the Normandy was tumultuous. A truth exacerbated by Zander’s persona, which introduced him into battle with the turian chief engineer, Octavio Tatum over the bounds of the ship’s Tantalus drive core.
Before improvement on the Normandy was accomplished, Zander was eliminated, and the ship was positioned beneath the command of David Anderson.
Shortly thereafter, the Normandy left on her first mission, launching from Arcturus, headed for Eden Prime on an project of the utmost significance — and secrecy. Fortunately, the Normandy had stealth and velocity on her facet.
Stealth Systems and Drive Core
The chief weapon within the Normandy’s arsenal was her state-of-the-art stealth system. The IES (inner emission sink) because it was identified, broke with the traditional knowledge that starship-based stealth was inconceivable. The warmth emanating from routine shipboard operations was too simply detected towards the background temperature of area. However, the Normandy was in a position to quickly “store” extra warmth in lithium warmth sinks buried deep inside her hull.
On the SR-1, this technique ran up towards a number of limitations. The IES couldn’t operate throughout FTL journey, because the faster-than-light speeds would blue-shift the Normandy’s emissions past the sinks’ means to carry. And after all, the ship wasn’t truly cloaked. A easy visible scan would discover her.
Most notably, although, the IES might solely function for round 2-3 hours of lively “silent running” at any time (or drifting passively by a system for days) earlier than the built-up warmth have to be radiated, in lieu of cooking the crew alive/
Powering all of it is the Tantalus drive core. This drive core was proportionate to twice the scale of some other ship’s core. A proven fact that meant the ship dealt with otherwise than one other ship of comparable measurement. Fortunately, the Normandy’s pilot, Jeff “Joker” Moreau was greater than able to compensating.

Layout
The SSV Normandy was organized into three most important decks: the Command Deck, residing quarters, and engineering & storage. From the Command Deck, the Command Information Center (CIC) dominated the area. At the guts of the ship, this station allowed the commanding officer to find out missions and chart a Mass relay course throughout the galaxy.
The second deck, primarily consisting of residing quarters, contained the Normandy’s habitation deck, which included a large number, crew sleeper pods, captain’s non-public workplace/cabin, medical bay, and firing pc.
Her third deck, Engineering & Storage, was just about precisely what it gave the impression of. Capable of storing a lot of the crew’s private gear, in addition to a Mako combating car.
SSV Normandy on the First Battle for the Citadel
From her first mission on, the Normandy was wrapped up in a plot by Saren, a rogue Specter, working with and indoctrinated by a Reaper named Sovereign. The mission to Eden Prime shortly become a race towards time, as Commander Shepard activated a Prothean Beacon, gaining a psychological imprint of a warning left behind by a long-extinct, spacefaring species.
From there, the Normandy aided Shepard in pursuing Saren deep into the Terminus Systems undetected. There the Normandy found the misplaced world of Ilos. A final-ditch analysis hub that stored many Protheans alive after the Reapers got here for his or her civilization.
After dropping Commander Shepard and a small crew off on the distant world, the Normandy returned, rendezvousing with the Fifth Fleet and main the assault towards the Reaper, Sovereign.
SR-1’s End
In the months following the primary Battle of the Citadel, the Normandy was assigned to extra backwater patrol duties, after the galactic council determined to scrub away the upcoming invasion as nothing greater than uncommon aggression from the Geth.
While out on patrol close to the Omega Nebula, an unidentifiable starship, which might later be revealed to be a vessel piloted by the mysterious Collectors, attacked the Normandy.
With a barrage of heretofore unseen particle beam weaponry, the Collector vessel devastated the Normandy, slicing by her kinetic obstacles and weapon techniques inside seconds. The Normandy was crippled earlier than her crew might return fireplace.
And the lives of over twenty crew members had been claimed within the assault. Including most of all, Commander Shepard, seemingly misplaced eternally together with the Normandy…
But the Normandy, like Shepard, was nearly inconceivable to maintain down for good.
