My dad has invented a brand new puzzle style referred to as “add a line and fix the typo”, however as a result of his senility I can’t be 100% positive this was a deliberate effort on his half. Last week he confirmed me a puzzle and I solved it nearly immediately.

The puzzle is proven beneath: it’s a must to make this equation appropriate by including a line and fixing the typo.

Note: I tagged this underneath “matches” although the equation does not actually encompass matchsticks.

The line could be added right here to create an inequality; I doubt that is the meant answer.

There’s a variant of this puzzle by which the answer is 550, the place you flip the “5+5” into 545 with the road, however I’m undecided about 500.

Correct answer:

545+5=550, not 500

For those that cannot see

545+5=550 (the typo is the primary 0 being a 5, not a 0.
