Wish is Disney’s latest animated film, which can dive into the origin of one of many studio’s most iconic characters — the magical wishing star.
Just kidding — kinda. The film undoubtedly attracts inspiration from the entire “wish upon a star” motif that crosses over a number of movies. It takes place in a kingdom the place a younger heroine named Asha needs on a star asking for steerage. And lo and behold, very like in Neil Gaiman’s Stardust, a star (named Star) tumbles all the way down to the dominion of Rosas with a purpose to assist Asha out.
Wish shall be completed in a brand new model that seems to mix parts of watercolor with 3D animation. It shall be a musical, with songs by Julia Michaels. Asha shall be voiced by Anita DeBose, who performed Anita within the 2021 West Side Story, whereas Disney veteran Alan Tudyk — recognized for voicing a plethora of animal sidekicks like Moana’s Hei-Hei and Raya and the Last Dragon’s Tuk Tuk — will proceed his legacy as a goat named Valentino. And apparently, the film could have a lot of Disney Easter eggs, if that’s your factor.
The film shall be directed by Frozen director Chris Buck and Raya and the Last Dragon story artist Fawn Veerasunthorn. Wish is about to come back out in November 2023.
